Carlos Drummond de Andrade was born in Itabira do Mato Dentro - MG, on October 31, 1902. He studied in the city of Belo Horizonte And with the Jesuits at the College de Anchieta Nova Friburgo RJ. Again in Belo Horizonte, started his career as a writer of the Daily collaborator of Minas Ante the insistence family to obtain a diploma, graduated in pharmacy in the city of Ouro Preto in 1925. He joined in the public service and, in 1934, transferred to the Rio de Janeiro, where he was head of office of Gustavo Capanema, Minister of Education, until 1945. Since 1954 collaborated as chronicler in the Morning Post and, from the beginning of 1969, in the Jornal do Brasil. Several works of the poet were translated into Spanish, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Swedish and other languages. Drummond was certainly, for many decades, the most influential poet of the Brazilian literature at the time, having also published several books in prose. On hand against foreign authors translated the following: Balzac (Les Paysans, 1845; Farmers), Choderlos de Laclos (Les Liaisons dangereuses, 1782; Relations dangerous), Marcel Proust (La gosenicami, 1925; The fugitive), García Lorca ( Doña Rosita, the soltera o el lenguaje de las Flores, 1935; Dona Rosita, a maiden), Francois Mauriac (Thérèse Desqueyroux, 1927, a drop of poison) and Molière (Les Fourberies de Scapin, 1677; Artimanhas of Scapino).
